About

Learn this iconic choreography called the Big Apple, first created in 1930s at the Big Apple Night Club in Columbia, South Carolina. This choreo is rooted in African American and West African traditions, drawing inspiration from the Gullah "ring shout" (counterclockwise circling with high arm gestures) from plantations in South Carolina and Georgia, combined with square-dance calling and 1920s/1930s jazz steps.
